DONATIONS - HOW YOU CAN HELP

UNWANTED BIRTHDAY OR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS:

If you have received gifts which aren't exactly your cup of tea, please don't push them to the back of the cupboard.  What could be better than helping little hedgehogs and other wildlife orphans?

We are always in need of good quality items to raise funds for our Wildlife Orphanage and Hedgehog Hospital.

Perfumes, aftershave, slippers, gloves, scarves, toiletries, gift sets, books and CD's

(diamond rings and Rolex's also very welcome haha)

The most direct way of supporting our work is by making a donation.

Caring for wild animals and birds is expensive, moreso the orphans, who need specialist foods and lots of warmth.  Equipment, incubators, heatpads, syringes, needles, fluids and medication is also very expensive and hedgehogs need quite a lot of medication to make them well again.

There are trips back and forth to the vets and also to pick animals up. Also there are journeys, many of them lengthy to release animals where they were found. We get calls from far and wide and can spend hundreds of £££'s just in fuel alone.

There are NO paid positions at the Wildlife Orphanage and every penny donated is spent on the wildlife in our care.

Please read on to see how you can help.

IF YOU LIVE IN THE AREA....

Perhaps you could arrange to drop any of the following off to help us:-

  • Washing up liquid
  • Kitchen Rolls
  • Disinfectant
  • Kitchen Spray
  • Dettol
  • Milton (as used for babies)
  • Hand wash
  • Puppy pads (most useful for messy ducklings!)
  • Paper plates (just plain, cheap white ones)
  • Cat meat, (meaty varieties)
  • Dog Meat
  • Dog Biscuits
  • Kitten Biscuits
  • Bird seed
  • Peanuts
  • Suet Balls
  • Furry hats and feather dusters

Logs, coal, and fire lighters are needed in the colder months as the Wildlife cabin is heated by a multi fuel stove which is burning 24/7 in Winter.

Furry hats are very comforting to some baby animals and birds. Ducklings also find comfort in feather dusters

We now have a good stock of towels and fleeces.

We are not able to use things like pillows or duvets as wild animals have a habit of tearing things apart !

October News

HEDGEHOGS, THE AUTUMN JUVENILES FLOOD IN!

Baby Pixie arrived weighing only 100g and has numerous problems
Pixie has to have Imaverol baths to clear his skin
Pixie is suffering from mites & ringworm and is in a bad way for such a tiny hedgehog

The Wildlife Orphanage has had an influx of small hedgehogs over the last few weeks.  These are the Autumn Juveniles, born late in the year.  They are often seen out in daytime and looking a bit wobbly.  Please act quickly if you see one as they go downhill rapidly.

With winter just around the corner, these little hogs will be just too light for hibernation.  They need to put on lots of weight to see them through the winter.

If you see a tiny hedgehog roaming about, often in daylight,

Please ring 0771 1883072 for advice.
